More Andrew Sullivan strangeness

Uberblogger Andrew Sullivan is a brave man.

After making himself the butt of scurrilous jokes (which are, of course, entirely beneath the dignity of this blog) for his appearance on Bill Maher's Real Time show, he's brought another magic moment to television viewers: the sight of him strapped into his his C-PAP machine on Wolf Blitzer Reports.

I'll agree that sleep apnea is no laughing matter—it reportedly kills some 30,000 people every year—but perhaps Sullivan's timing was not, shall we say, quite the best, coming on the heels of the Real Time debacle. And Wolf Blitzer couldn't seem to resist egging him on: "No. No. Put it on. You put it on like that and you make it tight, so it's really surrounding your mouth... It's pumping something into you. Keep it on. Keep it on."

CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta did his brahmin best to inject a sober tone into the proceedings, but you knew the crew in the control booth had to be peeing their shorts.

Watch the video (which, unfortunately, I could find only in Windows Media format) and decide for yourself. I'm afraid this may cost Sullivan his shot at a standing gig on The New York Times' op-ed page.
